How the test kit works?

The OraQuick HIV Self Test detects specific antibodies for HIV in your oral fluid sample. The reason that is so accurate is that the sample volume size is so much bigger than a blood test - and so much easier to use

Your test needs just one simple and pain free swab of your top gums and bottom gums - no blood is needed.

The OraQuick HIV Self Test puts you in charge and allows you to discreetly determine your HIV status at a time and a place that is convenient for you. It's like a pregnancy test, but different....

OraQuick HIV Self Test kit includes everything you need to perform your test
  • 1 x OraQuick HIV Self Test Kit Containing:
    • 1 x OraQuick HIV Self Test Device
    • 1 x pre filled buffer tube
    • 1 x Instructions for Use
    • 1 x Opaque Disposal Bag

DO NOT eat or drink for at least 15 minutes before you start the test or use mouth cleaning products 30 minutes before you start the test.

After 20 minutes your test will be completed, and you will be able to read your result.

DO NOT
read your result after 40 minutes.

About the HIV testing window:
4 weeks after exposure about 50% of people have made the antibodies for HIV. By 6 weeks after exposure, this goes up to about 95%, however, some people don't make these antibodies until up to 12 weeks after infection. The OraQuick HIV Self Test detects antibodies to HIV, not the actual virus itself. This is why it is so important not to rely on a negative test result until 12 weeks after your most recent possible exposure. If you test within this window period, you should test again after 12 weeks to confirm your result. A positive test result is always a positive test result, regardless of the window period.
