Native to an area extending from the Mediterranean in the west to China in the east, Fenugreek is an annual, cultivated principally in southern France, north Africa, Turkey, India and China. The seed is gathered in the autumn when ripe. A traditional herb used historically in hot climates where diet can be adversely affected. Recently rediscovered and recommended by herbalists for many reasons.

A wide range of uses were found for fenugreek in ancient times. Fenugreek was, and remains, a food and a spice commonly eaten in many parts of the world. Fenugreek seeds contain alkaloids (mainly trigonelline) and protein high in lysine and L-tryptophan. Its steroidal saponins (diosgenin, yamogenin, tigogenin, and neotigogenin) and mucilaginous fibre are thought to account for many of the benefits of fenugreek.

The herbal ingredients are wherever possible sourced from organic, wild crafted (non-threatened species) or cultivated plants. All the herbal raw materials conform to accepted scientific standards, British Pharmacopoeia, European Pharmacopoeia and British Herbal Pharmacopoeia.
